Locally Supported POS Systems for Tasmanian Businesses

This is information for users of IdealPOS and details how we will proceed with your IdealPOS upgrade installation for the various versions.

Version 6.x, Version 7.0.x, Version 7.1.x

There is no further support for these versions  Your IdealPOS will not expire but before we will work on your system it must be upgraded to Version 8.  Ideal are not issuing any new Version 7 licences.

There is a once-off licence upgrade cost for this and then time expended costs that cannot readily be quoted.  This is a complex process and might take several hours to get a stable Version 8 database.  Your stations will then be updated to this version.  This will disrupt your operations.

Once on Version 8 there is a free software upgrade to Version 9.  There is a small labour charge for this installation.

Version 8 and Version 9

These are the current versions of IdealPOS.  It’s licencing is different to previous versions in that it is a subscription licence.  The software and data is still installed in your terminals and it is not cloud based.  All previous V6 and V7 licences were ‘perpetual’ and these translate to V8/V9 Hybrid Licences and have a low-cost subscription.

Hardware Suitability

If you have IdealPOS Version 6 or Version 7 it is likely that your terminal(s) are not suitable for Version 8/9.

If you do not have Windows 10 64Bit on your systems and if your hardware is otherwise suitable then it will be upgraded to Windows 10 64 Bit.  This is so your Version 8/9 system can be installed with the latest version of the SQL Server database. 

If your processor is not powerful enough then your terminal might need to be replaced regardless.  Contact us to find out how to check the hardware settings.
